Job Summary: The Fleet Manager position supports Driver Manager(Dispatchers) and Drivers in their efforts to safely provide excellent service to our customers. As a Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating and supervising the activities of dispatch teams to maximize driver and truck productivity, safety and customer service. The dispatch teams consist of anywhere from 2-4 Driver Managers with up to 250 trucks. The Fleet Manager position is responsible for all aspects of on time service, safety performance, driver and driver manager development and morale.
Fleet Manager Duties include, but not limited to:
Safety – Manage Driver hours / DOT compliance, vehicle inspections, random drug testing processes
Productivity – Monitor and manage fleet productivity
Maintenance – Ensure Driver and Driver Manager compliance with preventative maintenance programs
Service performance – Manage and oversee operations processes including dispatching drivers in a timely manner, accurate and timely data entry, and associated paperwork. Monitor Driver’s activity to ensure on time delivery. Coordinate with Driver Managers, Planners and Customer Service in a professional manner on all matters to achieve positive outcomes.
Cost control – Manage Driver fuel compliance, preventative maintenance, layover/breakdown (asset utilization), out of route miles, payroll issues
Driver satisfaction – Monitor Driver home time needs, driver productivity, support Driver Managers in meeting the needs of drivers, Direct investigations to resolve Driver and customer complaints.
Driver/staff development - Staffing/performance evaluations, Training (safety/systems), Progressive discipline
HR – Monitor Driver leave and assist with benefit and payroll questions. Present material in Driver Orientation
The Candidate: The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the following attributes in previous roles: leadership, initiative, problem analysis, planning, organization, and sound judgment. Minimum of 2yrs experience in the transportation industry. A degree from an accredited university or college is preferred but not required. Candidates should have an interest in logistics, transportation management, and customer service.

Compensation for this position will depend on the candidate’s education and experience, with promotions based upon performance and not tenure. |
