Position Title:

Regional Risk Manager

Description:

JOB SUMMARY:
Develops, implements, and manages company safety programs, policies, and procedures; located in our Clackamas, Oregon Terminal. Must be aware of federal, state and local safety laws to ensure the organization complies with all current safety regulations. Coordinates safety traffic program and instructs truck and trailer drivers in matters pertaining to traffic and safety regulations, and care of equipment.

JOB DUTIES:
*Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Hazardous Materials regulations and laws.

*Instruct drivers regarding company regulations, penalties for infraction of rules or safety and conservation measures.

*Confer with department heads concerning such problems as accident rates and abuse of equipment, and recommend measures to improve safety records and to conserve equipment.

*Investigate accidents involving company trucks, question witnesses and drivers to determine causes of accidents and makes adjustments in accordance with governmental regulatory agencies' and company procedures.

*Report or review findings from accident investigations.

*Ride with drivers to detect safety opportunities in handling cargo or driving the vehicle.

*Patrol highway to detect company regulations compliance by drivers and to observe condition of vehicles on the road.

*Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations and trucking industry processes.

*Analyze accident reports obtained from governmental agencies to determine driver's need for additional training.

*Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring and use of safety equipment.

*Train supervisors in such matters as safety and conservation of equipment and driving hazards.

*Maintain safety / accident records and reports.

*Other duties assigned as business needs require.

THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate for this position will have a degree related to Occupational Safety preferred, 3 plus years’ experience in Safety, previous management preferred, strong computer skills.

Additionally, the ideal candidate for this position will exercise sound judgment, must take the initiative to be self-motivated and work towards continuous improvement of programs and training, must be able to compile, analyze and interpret statistical data related to the job, must be organized, able to maintain investigation files, have strong communication skills and a positive teamwork attitude, must be able to interpret related rules and regulations, must be professional and have strong knowledge and skills related to this position.

This Company provides a competitive compensation and benefits package. Compensation for this position will depend on the candidate’s education and experience, with promotions based upon performance and not tenure.
