I started out at Gordon Trucking a year after high school. At the time I was unsure of what I wanted to do in life and I needed a job. My sister worked for GTI (she still does) and greatly enjoyed the company and the family atmosphere the company presented. I met with Virginia Gordon and the rest, as they say, is history.

I started out doing miscellaneous jobs such as filing, typing and answering the telephone. I then moved to the billing department where I spent a couple of years. After that came the customer service department. I must say there is no better training ground for working at a trucking company than to be in some type of operations role. A solid foundation such as operations can lead you to many different areas within the company.

After several years in customer service I went back to college at the Tacoma branch of the University of Washington. I continued to work at GTI part time, while attending school full time, in the role of assistant customer service manager. After graduating with a degree in business administration I became customer service supervisor. Two years later I took on additional operational duties and my title changed to customer service/operations manager. A year and a half later I was offered the position of Northern California sales director. Along with the sales position, my background with operations and customer service allowed me to take a supervisory role for an on-site operations person at a customer location. After two and a half years of selling in the Northern California area I was offered the sales director position for the Pacific Northwest. The customer service/operations background has given me a huge advantage in understanding the inner workings of our company. I can sell much more effectively knowing what works well operationally for GTI and what doesn't.

Gordon Trucking has been a terrific company to work for. It has grown tremendously since I started way back when, but continues to have that great family atmosphere. There are many opportunities within the company for growth and advancement for those who work hard and are up for a challenge.
